Newt ... right on, as usual. Question? Why isn't Newt running for President instead of McLame?

The same reason he resigned from his dream job.
He really has too much baggage to be accepted by any of the Conservative Christian coalition if they want to maintain any credibility.

newt might just be smarter than we think. this way he can save himself from being the sacrificial lamb in this election. possibly try in four or eight years, could be better.
Newt is very smart as far as his IQ.
As for waiting 4 to 8 years, do you really think his baggage will get that much lighter?
He continues to dig deeper holes in his personal judgment.
And he doesn't have the Bush dynasty to put him in office by hook or crook.
Newt has had his hour of fame. He will keep being a professor (unless he takes up with a female there and gets in trouble) and he will continue to make big bucks with his books. Cons are so gullible. :roll

He's got the best of both worlds, and he doesn't have to explain his very complicated romantic history.

Newt Gingrich has been married three times. He married Jackie Battley, his former high school geometry teacher, when he was 19 years old (she was seven years his senior at 26 years old).[5][6] After an alleged affair in 1977 with Ann Manning, then the wife of a West Georgia professor, Gingrich sought a divorce from Battley. That was finalized in 1981. Newt refused to pay both alimony and child support. The local First Baptist church took up collections for support of Jackie and their children. [7] In 1981, Gingrich wed Marianne Ginther,[8] to whom he remained married until 2000, the same year Gingrich had an affair with a then 33-year-old Congressional staffer, Callista Bisek. He and Bisek were married in 2000 and currently reside in Virginia. Gingrich has two daughters, Kathy and Jackie from his marriage to Jackie Battley, two sons-in-law and two grandchildren.[9]
Although college peers noted Gingrich's preference to discuss politics more than his personal life,[10] Gingrich’s personal life has been the subject of much attention from both the media and his political opponents over the years. In 1992, his Democratic opponent, Tony Center, ran an ad claiming that Gingrich had "delivered divorce papers to his wife the day after her cancer operation," which was not true, although friends have acknowledged that he discussed divorce terms with his estranged wife while visiting her in the hospital.[11]

That might have something to do with it.
Odd how republicans are quick to demonize President Clinton for getting a honker, but can throw their full support behind this guy.

Newt was the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1994-1999.
WTF, was the matter with HIM pressing to end the regulation?
Oh, Presidnet George Bush I supplimented the Ban with and Executive Order in 1990.

... The Congressional moratorium was first enacted in 1982, and has been renewed every year since. It prohibits oil and gas leasing on most of the outer continental shelf, 3 miles to 200 miles offshore. Since 1990, it has been supplemented by the first President Bush’s executive order, which directed the Interior Department not to conduct offshore leasing or preleasing activity in areas covered by the legislative ban until 2000. In 1998, President Bill Clinton extended the offshore leasing prohibition until 2012. ...
