Foreclosure Phil and his wife Wendy (a former director of Enron) made sure that oil future contracts are not regulated and this lack of regulation is the cause of much of the run up in the price of oil.

I have been saying since Chaneys inside trader meeting on energy policy shortly after they took the white house that all these men need to kiss Martha Stewarts feet.
She went to jail for insider trading, and we have the kings of the insider traders running our white house.

Actually she didn't go to jail for insider trading. She went to jail for lying to the investigators. It was eventually discovered that she hadn't done anything illegal in the sale of that stock.

Whatever, we have a law against insider trading. And its obvious chaney and Bush are guilty of breaking that law.
Lets not forget they have been caught in endless lies as well. They are just smart enough to refuse to testify under oath.

As a matter of fact it is. If it weren't for the free market we'd be no better than those low life Europeans. Care to join me for a spot of tea? :rofl

Barton means if it wasn't for our silly idea of unregulated capitalism we might have a country as moral and caring as the Europeans.

When you see Dick Cheney and his lovely and intelligent wife, and you see our fine President George W. Bush and his articulate wife Laura, the contrast between them and the low life trash they replaced is unavoidably apparent. :yep

Regulating Capitalism is a Soviet slave state concept, it is not an American one. We were intelligent enough to abandon that restraint early on before it killed us too. The free market is what regulates Capitalism and it is all we will allow to regulate it before we launch a full scale revolution and kill all of our opposition then eat some beans and cornbread.

Hey I take offence at that Jim.
I am a redneck hill billy and proud of it from West by God Virginia , God's country.
And trust me we know how to deal with people like Barton they have a way of running quick from round these parts. Barton is no redneck or hill billy. Being a red neck or a hill billy means your not a coward and Barton obviously is too cowardly to qualify.
Heck and gosh darn it Barton thinks some boogey man terrorist is going to get him and may be hiding under his bed at night. LOL :mw The boogey man terrorist is going to get Barton and that has him shaking in his boots. That is all the proof I need that Barton is not a redneck nor earned the right to be a hill billy.
A real redneck hill billy ain't scared of a terrorist. Round these parts we call scared cats like Barton girlie men.
I think Barton must be a city fella. In fact I would bet gran pappy's still on that.
Boo! :ninja Barton best check under that bed fore youin jumps in at night. I bet that boogey man terrorist is hiding just waiting to get you. :ninja :ninja..................LOL Boo!

Yeah, with more slackers on welfare and higher inflation and unemployment.
Yeah, we want what Europe has.
Oh, BTW do you know the price of gas in Europe today?
It is not 4.00 per gallon, as a matter of fact it was 4 several years ago. Yeah that's the kind of system we all want.
Here is my question, if it is so much better why don't you move there. Oh, yeah I forgot no jobs.

I have, have you? what's your point? The people are not screwed up so much as their governments are far closer to what you want than ours. It is why we are so much better off.

[B]Well you know damn well that this country is going down the tubes on a rocket sled...( or you lack sumpn' somewhere in the upper level one) because of greed, arrogance snd stupidity, none of which I ran into there. I would sure as hell prefer certain aspects of their government to having the country stolen by a bunch of thugs which is what is happening to this one - indeed if it hasn't damn near happened already...:drevil

To me: You are talking about COUNTRY PEOPLE, Peach...I guess I might have run onto too many POLITICAL type of rednecks - who were agressively stupid...The kind You are talking about includes yours truly - who has picked 35 to 40,000 pounds of cotton by hand, gathered corn the same way, worked mules, etc...I know those kind and get along with them w;; ...Some of the "tough guys" I have encountered would get fed to the alligator gars where I come from (Northeast Arkansas Delta)...:angel:coffee

We regulate now most securities and commodities. Energy and oil are exempt due to Wendy Gramm and Forelosure Phil and so speculators are free to play with and run up the price. All Senator Obama wants to do is to close the Enron loophole and make these commodities and securities subject to the same rules as other commodities and futures. If this was done, then most experts expect that oil prices will go down and there will be more stable prices.

Apparently you can tell some people anything and they will believe it.
The US has the best of one thing in this world that is our military.
Aside from the military we trail badly the rest of the civilized world in many catagories.
So John Gault you keep worshiping the American flag as your God and see where it gets you. THe rest of the world is running a race and because of people like you the US is still trying to figure out how to crawl before we walk.

You do know that their rates of unemployment, inflation and every other measure are far worse then here, you do know that?
Of course you did not find people who disagreed with you there, they are already where you want to take us.
PS - My prospects are improving not getting worse.

You mean like Chavez in Venezuela? Gee I wonder what side of the political spectrum he is on?
You don't seem to understand capitalism.
The roll of the state should be only to keep a fair playing field, to protect against fraud and other illegalities, not to tell them how to run their business, how much to pay, who to hire, where to build, who you can sell to etc.
I don't want no regulation I want to get rid of those that don't do the above.

Because of people like me the other people in the race hardly matter to most of us.
The example you are siting is actually the former Soviet Union, a third world economy with a first world military.
The only places we trail the rest of the world are areas where our poor drag down the averages.
