RALEIGH, N.C. - The FBI has joined the search for 17-month-old twins who authorities think were taken to Canada by their biological mother.

Allison Quets is suspected of taking Tyler Lee and Holly Ann Needham, who had lived in Apex, North Carolina, with their adoptive parents.

Quets had monthly visitation rights as a part of a custody agreement, but now faces federal charges of international parental kidnapping.

A custody order allowed Quets to take the twins on Dec. 22 and return them Dec. 24 to their adoptive parents. The FBI says the woman crossed the Canadian border with the twins on Dec. 23.

I wonder why the twins were put up for adoption in the first place?

That's a good question, FD. The adoptive parents must be horribly upset. The woman shouldn't be able to hide for long having a set of twins. A lot of people will notice the twin babies when she goes out in public. I hope they find them. :( One good thing is that at least the mother probably won't hurt them physically.

Or maybe she will? Depending on why they were taken away in the first place :whistle Maybe she's one of those nut cases "IF I can't have my babies NO ONE WILL!" :cuckoo

I hope they find them. This arrangement sounds too open to me.

OKay what the heck is going on. As an adoptive mother I have NEVER heard of visitation by the birth parents in so much as 2 days over a holiday. Who is their adoption lawyer?

I do pray that they find these children and that they are unharmed. And that whatever rights these bio parents have will be terminated!

Also, why are they saying that they think they may be with this woman. If they were released to her custody and not returned I don't think that is too much of a leap!
