This is interesting. Murdoch is a dye hard conservative but is also very practical http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Rupert_Murdoch_predicts_landslide_for_Democrats_05 29.html News Corp Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch on Wednesday predicted a Democratic landslide in the U.S. presidential election against a gloomy economic backdrop over the next 18 months.

Murdoch has yet to endorse a U.S. presidential candidate but considers Barack Obama very promising, the media magnate said in an interview by two Wall Street Journal reporters at an annual conference for high-tech industry insiders.

News Corp recently acquired ownership of the Journal and its parent company Dow Jones & Co.

"You have got the Obama phenomenon. You have got, undoubtedly, a recession ... The average American is really getting hurt financially and that all bodes well for him (Obama), Murdoch said.

"You have probably the making of a complete phenomenon in this country," Murdoch said in describing what he predicted will be a sweeping victory for Democrats in November.

The recent special election for a U.S. Congressional seat held by Republicans in Mississippi showed how powerless that party may be in the face of a rising political tide, Murdoch said. Democrat Travis Childers won the seat this month.

Murdoch said Obama and John McCain, the expected nominee of the Republican Party, both have a lot of problems, but McCain will be hurt by his party and his close ties to Washington. Race will be an issue for Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, but "it looks like he overcomes that, overcomes that totally."

Murdoch is associated with conservative political views but has a reputation for a pragmatic streak in major national races where he has shown a willingness to switch sides when he detects major political changes afoot.

"I think it (a recession) is one we will be coming out of for quite some time," Murdoch said. "In the next 18 months, this country is going to be in for a very hard time."Maybe Faux news will have to convert to being a liberal news source after the election:LL

I like Murdock and he it seems like Sorros is finally deciding to tell the truth. But he is wrong about Obama. Obama will not be the next US president.

I wish he could be , but there is not a chance of that happening.

Murdock and men like Sorros are finally starting to understand the plan is to drag the US down to the level of the rest of the world economically. Rich men like these two sometimes get a conscious after they have made their money. Now they see it and realize what a bad thing the plan has turned out to be for the average American and now they wish they could stop it. Well, time is running out. Big changes need to be made to how the US does everything.

I neither see the will or the intelligence from the American people to understand what needs to be done and do it. So, we will continue to slide off a cliff till the economy crashes. Murdock and men like him see it coming and now wish they had did something sooner to stop it. I am not their judge, but words after the fact don't count for much in my opinion.

McCain will be our next president and heaven help us all he will put the final nails in the coffin of the US economy.

Obviiously a Rich stupid assed idiot, if he thinks a Black Muslim Whitey Hater, is promising?? You do know that Murdoch owns Faux, the WSJ and many other conservative newspapers and sources. The man is not considered a liberal by anyone who calls themselves liberals.

It is amusing to see Murdoch make such a prediction and I agree with the reasons he gives. The economy is going to kill mc :cane in the general election and will help the Democrats. Murdoch is smart and knows this.

No thanks...it's probably in pretty bad repair since Bush sent all our tax dollars to the M.E. instead of keeping up with the maintenance of the infrastructure.

Thanks anyway. :)

No I realize he like MOST Liberals doesn't have a Commie Dick in his ass, and I have been told OWNERSHIP means nothing in the Media! At one time before YOU commies took over the FCC, the NEWS was watched closely for accuracy & honesty, two words slimeball lawyers don't know, as neither do the MODERN MEDIA of NBC-MSNBC, the Jihad-Communism links to America, led by Bry Williams and Bathtub Boy Oberman, biggest fucking JOKE since Bill Mahre!!!:mw:mw:mw:nerd

So: If it were "communism" which it ain't - which would be worse??? "Your" communism or a whole damn country run like a Grapes of Wrath fruit picker's camp??? Rich thieves called Steinbeck a "Communist" too then came to prosper better than ever except that they had lost their gilded age which they branded as "communism." And there is no connection between being a "liberal" and a homosexual. I see this as a possible "Personal" problem as herein stated..:mw:akbar:ringo

Well said Jim. As a business woman I can tell you that reganomics and deregulation practiced in this country for the last 20 years was a prescription for breaking our economy. In all fairness Bill Clinton followed those same policies the only thing he did that was even close to business like was try to establish a pay as you go budget, other than that he and Bush are no different economy wise.

Those polices are the reason we are where we are in the economy right now. And MCcain the next president of the US admits he is not up on what should be done with the economy. So he has hired a bunch of those Reagan nuts from the heritage foundation to set his economic policies. That means we are screwed, just more of the same or worse from MCcain. The economy won't take it.

I just listened to a cspan broadcast from the nations top banks economists. And they are saying the worst years for the housing foreclosures are going to be 2009,10, 11, and 12 with over 3-4 trillion going belly up. They are also saying that in Nevada , California where the labor department has done some in depth studies recently that unemployment rates are really approaching closer to double digits. People have used all their unemployment and are now working at jobs making fully 1/3rd less or even lower at any job they can find normally without health care benefits.

The GAO has been screaming this was coming since Reaganomics and loudly since Nafta and Cafta kicked in.

The nations top economists are now starting to say we are in big trouble. But no worries for them they are taking their money out of the US and investing it over seas.

This was not done unintentionally. I am just a little business woman who like Perot has been asking for 20 years what in the heck are these idiots doing?

The plan has always been to bust social security. I will not bore people with how stupid that is. But the truth is the military industrial complex has talked our government into stealing from the social security account for so long that now they don't want to pay all those IOU"s back when they need to. In fact they can't unless we raise taxes big time. So the idea has always been to end social programs in the US. To do that they are willing to watch the US go bankrupt and low.

Problem is , all other modern countries have went way beyond where the US is now as far as social programs go. History records that social programs are good for the economy as they lift people up and give them the chance to come out of poverty which is good for us all. So every other civilized nation in the world has figured it out pretty well. The US is going to get worse than the last great depression and when we do not a country on earth will lift a finger to help us . They will talk about how bad it is, but they will not really do much at all to help. Truth be told even our allies will be glad to see the arrogant Americans knocked back down to size.

That post got a little long so I will continue here. Because I don't want this point to be missed.

When the economic fall comes, there in is our defining moment . They will try to declare martial law and hope people are happy to go back to work for enough money to put food on their tables and a bank owned shelter over their heads. Kinda like the old coal mining towns where the company owned everything. That is the plan for the US it seems. Our defining moment will come when we have to decide are WE the American People going to put up with that or are we going to fight back?

I predict America as we knew it is gone forever. Most people are way too soft to fight so they will buckle under and accept their new servitude. There will be pockets of resistance but they will have their black waters to pick those groups up and get rid of them.

Dark days for the country ahead and I don't think we have the collective will to fight back. The America we knew and loved is about to die and it will not be resurrected.

I'm afraid you are right down the channel, Peach.
I said for awhile that the American people would fight back - but I am worried now. It was in the master communist plan that they would take away the American ruggedness by getting them interested in: "plays and trivia." Hell it isn't even plays now just trivia piled high and deep...So maybe the Republicans have caught on to the communist plan...It did surprise Hitler that the Americans fought WWII much less, I guess, that we won...But I don't think this country could put down a heavy swarm of "locusts" now...Would I be fooled too??? I hope so...:deadshot

I am pretty convinced they won't fight Jim.

Take me for example . I am willing to fight. But I have a son who is a doctor , another a history teacher and a daughter that is a pharmacist. Not to mention a husband who has security clearance that his job depends on.

My family sees this coming . They have all told me to not rock the boat, I have their careers to think of.

As soon as my parents are gone and that should not be too long from now. I am out of here. I believe my kids will follow.

Ringo, I am not sure that you are not a 15 year old boy posting from your room in your mother's basement. You should not be casting doubts on anyone's else claims here. There is no way to verify your claim of military service either.
