First...there was nothing sneaky about it. Those who pay attention to such matters were well aware and informed about the measure. Just because most people do not bother to research congressional legislation, does not make the stuff in it "sneaky".

Second, you forgot to mention Feinstein's co-sponsor....Larry Craig, a Republican.

Third, as your thread title indicates...but the article failed to address...the measure was removed from the legislation a few days ago.....so you can rest easy. You'll be happy to know that your favorite guy in the world, Harry Reid was pivotal in getting it removed. The measure was not "shot down" as only 10 Republicans were against it enough to sign a petition stating so. It was tabled....and will certainly be brought again.

Fourth....did you read the measure? It is fairly limited in scope and certainly not worthy of such alarm.

Finally....the work you cited was, in fact, an op-ed piece.
