WASHINGTON DC (CNN) -- A new poll suggests that President Bush is the most unpopular president in modern American history.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday indicates that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president.
"No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president's disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director.
"Bush's approval rating, which stands at 28 percent in our new poll, remains better than the all-time lows set by Harry Truman and Richard Nixon [22 percent and 24 percent, respectively], but even those two presidents never got a disapproval rating in the 70s," Holland said. "The previous all-time record in CNN or Gallup polling was set by Truman, 67 percent disapproval in January 1952."
While Gallup polling goes back to the 1930s, it wasn't until the Truman years that they began surveying monthly approval ratings.
CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider adds, "He is more unpopular than Richard Nixon was just before he resigned from the presidency in August 1974."
President Nixon's disapproval rating in August 1974 stood at 66 percent
The poll also indicates that support for the war in Iraq has never been lower. Thirty percent of those questioned favored the war, while 68 percent opposed it.
"Americans are growing more pessimistic about the war," Holland said. "In January, nearly half believed that things were going well for the U.S. in Iraq; now that figure has dropped to 39 percent."
The numbers on the Iraq war come on the five-year anniversary of Bush's "Mission Accomplished" moment on board the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, when he proclaimed that "major combat operations in Iraq have ended."
The record-low support for the war in a CNN poll could be one reason behind the president's unpopularity, but it probably is not the only one.
"Support for the war, the assessment of the economy and approval of Mr. Bush are all about the same -- bad," Schneider said.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll was conducted by telephone from Monday through Wednesday among 1,008 adult Americans.
The poll's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Well the main thing that you have to take into acct. are the people polled.
If they believe everything the Democraps say about Bush, they will have a negative opinion.
If they believe all the negative stuff that the media says about Bush, they will have a negative opinion.
If they believe all the negative stuff that their friends and or relatives say about Bush, they will have a negative opinion.
Now, if they looked at some of the evidence or lack of, postulated by the Left, and drew independent opinions, I think that number would change a lot.
There are soooo many factors that go into polls, including bias of all types, it's really hard to believe them...

Well...Bush bashing again! It's as though those idiot Democrats have nothing better to do. They must think they will win easily in November!!!
It would be great if someone who supports Bush or thinks he has done a decent job as POTUS would present us with a "PRO/CON" list of his accomplishments and screw-ups.
Anyone?

Dear Wabash,
As I don't fly and george would not come to me there is no chance I could or would terminate an entity with less value than scum on a cesspool. He, BUSH, needs to realize what destruction and pain he has placed on humanity!
People are waking up to what RR did and his pedestal is being lowered daily.
And the only good Repuke is an upchucked one.

Lincoln would disavow today's Republican party. The Republican Party that Lincoln joined was the remnants of the National Union Party whose platform had more in common with moderate Democrats than the Republican party platform of today does.

Values like liberty and justice for all people, blacks, whites, hispanics, et al. Peace, Nixon.

I doubt that Lincoln would have anything to do with the bozos in the Demo Party today! I would think he would align himself more with the Libertarian Party.

All I know is that the economy was humming till the Democrats took over the Congress. Now we have the housing crisis and gas prices through the roof. No wonder approval levels for the Congress are at an all time low.
Those Democrats and their insane, lying, handling of our economy has most likely resulted in us losing our country. A rock would have better sense than them. They are clearly idiots, each and every one. And they are all just the puppets of that Hitler re-incarnation named George Soros. If he says jump, they say "how high, sir?" Now they have the nerve to run for re-election. Our economy is going down the toilet and Nancy Pelosi calls for resolutions to condemn Turkey for some supposed genocide 100 million years ago(and she couldn;t even get that passed). Talk about fiddling while Rome is burning....I don't see how Nancy Pelosi can even show her face in public. I hate those bastards.

Perhaps if you paid attention ALL the time you would have seen this collision between profit-before-ethics and fiduciary responsibility.
