I understand and accept that people are born into the wrong sex. I understand and accept transgenders that complete the sex change. However, this FUBAR!!! She is not a man, she has a vagina and uterus. She does not have a penis. :soapbox

"Sceptics claim it is an elaborate hoax that will be revealed tomorrow on April Fool's Day.

There was also speculation that the story could be connected to a new series masterminded by actor Ashton Kutcher, which plays pranks on the media."

Thanks PB, but I've read it.

I really hope it's an April Fool's joke. I may just watch Oprah today and I haven't watched her since 1995.

It's no joke OB and I am very happy for this couple.

The fact is she is not a man.
A man doesn't have a vagina or uterus.
It's a lesbian couple having a baby.
I don't have a problem with a gay couple having a baby.
I have a problem with the fact that she is lying about her gender.

Okay, I'm going to be very honest and say this is creepy. No, she is not technically a man, but she DOES look like one. Seeing that protruding belly and chest hair and no boobs is really weird.

Of course, I'm happy that a couple that wants a baby is having one, but I just don't like looking at the pictures.

There are pictures of her before she became half transgendered....she was very beautiful.

OK, I have transgendered friends who have shifted from female to male and have talked with one in particular about why they would have their breasts removed, take all the hormone injections, live as a male for at least a year and NOT have the penis operation.

Apparently the operation just isn't that great. I saw three of these operations on TV and I have to agree; there is no way to predict how large or sensitive the new penis is going to be - it can turn out to be quite unsatisfying.

So a number of female to male transgenders do undertake the whole transformation and live the rest of their lives as males, but just never get the penis.

What I find fascinating is not the biology but the culture surrounding the transformation. My friend tells me that his whole life changed when he began living as a man. he says women have no idea of the way men really think, talk, and relate - that's it's a whole other world

I completely respect that. But, the case in point, she did not complete the surgery and therefore is not a man. She kept her vagina and uterus.

Yeah, so did my friends above, for the reasons stated. As in most things the men have it easier :)

BTW: I'm not sure if this varies from state to state but in PA my friends (vagina, uterus, no penis) are considered male - at least for the purposes of their driver's licenses (which is a very legal status).

I'll add that neither would dream of getting pregnant.

I respect that, also.
My main issue is the publicity this couple is drawing upon themselves, even going on Oprah. I didn't even know there was a case before it, which didn't make national headlines. I'm tired of extremists.

I wish gender were a little more black & white to make it easier on everyone, but I understand why it is not.

I've seen this on every message board I post & a lot of gay people are agreeing with this & straight people think it is whack.

I'm trying hard not to think about it too much. Really.

Lola; I agree they should have a baby. I don't agree that man is having a baby. It's physically impossible.
