Let's get straight what an OP is-does it mean opening post, opinion piece, or as I suggested, opulent patootie? I want the definition from the source.
Then lets see if we can get the far right fringe to quit crying about it.

It means an Opinion Piece. Opinion pieces should not be used to start a new thread in the moderated sections .

I haven't followed this OP debate too closely, but ...
I think you could have an academically disciplined author that could state several FACTS, LOGICALLY connect the dots and draw a conclusion. I wouldn't call such a conclusion an opinion, but more of a hypothesis to be tested/debated by TPA resident posters.
The problem seems to be, there are so many jerkoffs (Rush, O'Reilly, Beck, et al) that are claim they are stating facts, when it is horseshit. Then they utilize faulty logic to come to their bizarre conclusion.
I can see that separating these two classes of postings will be difficult for some to understand.

Why not? Opinions can be controversial and open some lively dialogues. :shrug

They aren't censored, just put in a particular section of the board.

But Sag, come on...what kind of discussion board is it if we can't express our opinions? Or if we have to be careful where we post our opinions.
Many times I'll start a thread with a news piece and give my opinion on the piece. I always thought that was a pretty good launch post. :shrug

Giving an opinion in a thread is fine, and is what we are here for. Starting a thread with an opinion is ok, in the unmoderated sections

They cause insults to be slung back and forth.
So if you were to open a Moderated thread with a Commentary from Bathtub Boy Olberman on the INFAMOUS Jerimiah Wright Sermon, YOUR thread would remain Insult free from say:
I find your uniformed idiocy amusing, you Bushies are so stupid...Doggie Dew
You are such a HATER & a LIAR Ringo....TB
You are a far right Christian asshole..Cookie or Dragon Lady!!
Is that what your saying??:sheep:charge:mw:tb:minnie:mickey

I'm with Sparks, I don't get the issue - at all! It just seems weird. But I'll assume I'm missing something and go back and have more coffee!

I don't understand why putting something in the unmoderated areas tends to get everyones panties in a knot. There is nothing wrong with the unmoderated areas, they simply allow for more mudslinging.
Expressions of opinions is welcome at TPA and desired. When you do a post that does not have a link but it just your take on something or the link is someone elses opinionated take on something just put it in the unmoderated and then it won't be moved. :shrug

Way too confusing... still don't get it and since I don't care where any of my posts end up, I'll just post and follow the thread wherever it may lead! :zen

I read the rules and I see no where (other than in posts) that OP's may not open a discussion.
Besides politics is nothing but competing ideas and opinions.
It just seems that you only think right leaning OP's are OP's and that left leaning OP's are fucking facts...
If you go through mosts of the poest they come down to one persons subjective interpretation of the facts as they see them.
PS - That's called an fucking opinion....

Who the fuck are you to be the arbitor of what logic is faulty and what is not?
Hint, disagreement with an opinion does not make the logic used to come the the opinion faulty.
I would love to see a specific example of this?

They aren't censored, just put in a particular section of the board.
I don't have as much time to devote to these boards as I would like. That means I am limited in where I look and what I respond to.
The section you keep transfering them from is the one that has the most traffic and gets the most notice.
Moving them only makes it less likely that many people will even notice them.
A subtle thing but since the only mods that move anything art leftist mods I suspect a pattern that a simple cursory look will confirm.

That's bull shit, everything political causes insults to be slung on this board.
You just don't like the stuff you move so you move it to less trafficed areas and you know it.

It is the kind all leftists want, controlled and monitored.
I get a kick out of the left about how they want freedom of speech and respect for privacy and then on boards run by them they ban people more than any comservative board ever thought of... and why, cause they don't like what or how something is said.

That is what I was thinking? It is certainly more deserving of it than the ones that were moved there that were started with a newpaper article sans personal opinion. I like to think of it as Sags Selective Censorship. :) Or her vain attempt to control thinking by her "Out of Sight, Out of Mind " approach. :LL Subtle huh? :rofl

You need to look at how many looks are given to shock therapy threads. They get huge notice.
Use "most recent posts" or "quick links" and this won't be a problem. You don't have to go to the particular forum.
This will completely alleviate this problem. Completely, you will have NOTHING to complain about.
Rev and Cass are not "leftists" and yet they agree with this policy.
I have had threads moved. And yet I lived with the pain.

The ideal is to remove the moderators from these sections and let them sweep the floor or something useful.
One thing I have noticed is the more we stir this turd the more it stinks! IMO :LL
