Rudeness has become a national pastime, from in-your-face reality tv to road rage to obscenity laden music, tv and movies, we have become a culture of the loud, the crude, and the rude. And while many today write of wtiquette as passe, the definition of love has not changed and neither has God's definition of love either.

Quote:

1 Cor 13: 4-7
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

There is a rationale for the reason people are rude today.

Pace of Life: People say that they are just to busy
Parenting
Popular Entertainment: Everyone does it so it must be ok
Relaxed/Casual Culture: "Hey no one really cares anyway"
Pressure to Succeed: "I must get ahead no matter what"
It Just Feels Good: They were rude first and it felt good to get back at themThese are just excuses people use to justify their actions.

Rudeness has two roots: Ignorance and Arrogance. People are Ignorant of how loved they really are and how much they really are blessed. They are Arrogant of who is in charge of their lives. "No one can tell me what to do I'm in control here"

The way to solve rudeness is through Knowledge and Humility.

Here are some ways to start showing respect for people around you

Speak with Honesty not Hostility. Truth is good but it should be tempered with Love
Be Courteous not Condescending: Treat people with the same compassion that you want to be treated with
Be Relational not Ruthless: Try being a friend instead of an enemy
Be Compliant not Defiant: Don't be selfish but always help others, never think yourself better then anyone.Remember "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" translated Treat everyone the same way that you want to be treated

I went through a very rude phase for about a year and a half. I was going through a rough time and I took it out on everybody, especially online. I realized the error of my ways and I've been making an effort not to be a big old bitch anymore. Sometimes, things slip out tho. :para

It really bothers me when people blame being busy or not having time for why they are so rude. Being nice takes just as much time.

Indy take heart in knowing that if it were online mainly that your kids did not see it. :)

People communicate less and less face to face. Everyone walks around on their cell phones in public, not even slowing down their conversation at all while shopping or driving.

Ya know what really bugs me is when folks stand at the checkout at the grocery store 'n fail to acknowledge the checkout person by :blah :blah :blah on their damn cell. Can't they put that damn thang down long enough to treat the checkout person as a human bein'?

When I was going through my divorce, I was probably the most rudest witch you have ever seen. once I calmed down, I had a lot of apologize to make and I did, to every single last person I had been rude to.

What irks me are people at the Grocery Store that won't get to one side of the aisle when they are looking for something on the shelves. They park in the middle of the aisle where no one can get buy.

And then they are too lazy to take their cart to the cart parking thingy. They just leave it right next to your new car.
