how one can forget their child in the backseat of their car.

There are 36 deaths a year because a child is left in a vehicle for an extended period of time, and I just don't understand this.

You have a routine, drop your child off at daycare or whatever, and then go to work. How can you just not realize that you forgot a stop on your way to work?

I just dont' get it.

I once drove to work in a hurry...late as always.....and while driving was making a mental list of everything I had to do when I got there....stopped at the last red light before I got to the store....and heard a "baby gurgle/baby talk" I gasped, looked in the mirror and realized I forgot to drop them off. :panic

I turned around, took them to day care and then cried hysterically the whole way to work. I couldn't even believe I forgot for that couple of minutes. It just makes my whole body curl when I think of those people going to work all day. :sob And there are those who do it on purpose, because they don't have child care.and they crack a window, like someone would do for a dog. :sog It's sick sick sick .

My little "oops" was a serious wake up for me. I not only didn't forget them ever again, but I promised myself and them to concentrate on them and driving ONLY and work ONLY while I was AT WORK. :phew
