View Full Version : What are the pros and cons of open/close sources

Going to XPost this on my blog and few other forums that I belong to as well.
This has been on my mind again lately.
To me it is good, but have trouble with the full versions of it. Mean downloading and etc.
Now, have no clue what to do about it.

I'm kind of torn on this one. Programmers deserve to be compensated for their work, 100%.
If things were kept on a lower level, and there weren't corporations to pay for, then the programmers themselves would make a lot more money, and it would be cheaper for the consumer. BUT, that is hardly ever the way it works.
Its a lot along the lines of pirating music or movies, I suppose. Oddly enough, though, some artists who are letting people download their newest tracks for free are actually out selling those with corporate backing.
