My soon to be 10 year old has turned into a vegetarian. When ordering say NO MEAT. Also alot of menus are now vegetarian friendly and marked as to what is veggie only. :)

No one should be allowed to eat vegetarian unless they cook for themselves. That includes children.
I had a rule when my kids lived at home. I cooked one meal. They ate it if they wanted. They could cook something else if they wanted. I was not running a restaurant.

Veggie Delite® The Veggie Delite® is a delightfully crunchy combination of garden fresh lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, olives and pickles and your choice of fat-free condiments served on freshly baked bread. It’s like a salad sandwich.

Veggies and Cheese at Subway.
Quiznos and other sandwich places always have some sort of vegetable and/or mushroom sandwich.
I can't stand Boca burgers, but BK does have them.
If you're going full out Veggie, and you're out to eat, you really have to ask what is in the food that may seem to not have meat. Lots of foods are cooked in chicken/meat broth.
Other than that, salads and pastas are good alternatives. You can also usually find veggie stuff on the "heart healthy" menu areas, if the restaurant has one.
Eating out is hard. Stick to Asian and Indian food mostly. Some Mexican places are veggie friendly, too. And you can always look it up online so see if there are any suggestions in the areas you visit...

My no fail vegetarian recipe that tastes good:
1 Old El Paso taco kit (crunchy or soft)
1 container of firm tofu
Drain tofu. Press a bit to squeeze out the water.
Follow box preparation instructions substituting the tofu for beef/chicken.
Tastes just like meat. :D

I don't care for tofu very much, either.
Avocados are a great taco substitute, only you use them fresh. But you can probably sprinkle taco seasoning on them :think

Ok, I went to Taco Hell today and decided to try the Cheesy Bean and rice burrito @ a kick ass 99 cents what did i have to lose?
I grabbed a nutrition brochure and found out that only one of those suckers has over 1400 mg of salt.:nono

Anyway, I posted about my experience at Taco Hell and their very tasty yet extremely salty "Cheesy Bean & Rice Shit Tube" :hotdog
1400 mgs of sodium in 1 !!
So i decided to go to the Subway (Eat Bread) website to investigate the nutritional value for a veggie sandwich as far as the sodium content goes and the result was much more impressive........500 mgs per sandwich!! Thats almost 1/3rd less than Taco Hell's Taco Fu Shit tube!! :pblade
Ok. I'm going to get a cup of coffee. Is anyone else awake?

This one is close to what I make. I always separate the eggs and beat the whites and fold them in last. It really makes for fluffy pancakes...but you don't have to do that.
To sour milk....1 tablespoon lemon juice or 1 tablespoon vinegar to one cup of milk.
Buttermilk Pancakes
* 1 egg
* 1 cup buttermilk
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 1 cup plain flour
* 1 TBS sugar
* 1 TBS cooking oil
* 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp salt
Beat the egg and then add the buttermilk and soda.
Stir in flour, sugar, oil, baking powder and salt. Stir until blended. Try to get any lumps out but don't overdo it on the stirring.
Heat a griddle or frying pan with a little oil or butter. You want medium heat and for the oil/butter to be hot but not burned.
Dip out enough batter to make pancakes about 3 to 4 inches around. You can, of course, make big ones or little silver dollar sized.
When the edges "set" and have bubbles, flip the pancakes. You only want to flip once, so don't jump the gun.
As you're cooking, you'll probably need to add a little more oil or butter as you go. Just add small amounts as needed.
You can keep a plate warm in the oven and complete the whole batch or serve them right from the frying pan as they're done if you have a very informal family.
This recipe makes 8 to 10 medium pancakes or enough for 4 people unless they're hungry people. With teen boys here, I just double the recipe.

I don't like tofu or meat substitutes. If I want meat, I'll eat meat. :shrug
Baja Fresh has a veggie burrito bowl that I love! It's really yummy & very filling. I think it's around 600 calories so I try to eat 1/2 for one meal & 1/2 for another.
Corner Bakery has a mozzarella & tomato sandwich with roasted red peppers that I love. :drool
Sushi. :para
I love to make tacos at home & I just sub refried beans for meat.
I am starving. :lol

Tofu gets a bad rap. It's really good for ya!
Tofu is not my food of choice, that is for sure, but it is a good alternative to meat if one feels strongly against consuming animal products.
