Our 7th grader came home very upset about computer class, we have a very open dialogue and she shares everything with us...so far. :snicker Anyway, there was a substitute and the class basically did as they pleased in computer lab.

Our 12 year old just started enjoying Halloween this year :lmao so to say the least she's not into the scary/gore genre of movies/books. (Our youngest loves Halloween....:lmao) Anyway..the school does have youtube.com blocked. Kids today can get around filters, what have you. But, I've talked to several people and they were unaware of google video, which a kid watched in the computer lab. It wasn't so much google video it was the content, The Grudge.

I called the school, they were unaware of google video. It's been taken care of, but it also was a great parenting tool about peer pressure. :thumbsup

I remember in the 7th grade sneaking in with most of my class to see Friday the 13th in 3-D. It had nudity and violence galore and we were Catholic School kids!

I think a little violence, gore and nudity is ok for some kids, disasterous for others. But kids will be kids!

I'm glad you worked it out with your kid.

I am glad that you were able to use this experience to help your child. :)

Thanks Deadshot and Cassandra. Yes, it was an excellent parenting tool. Our daughter could have chosen NOT to watch the video of The Grudge but allowed peer pressure to succumb her into watching it. She totally grasped the concept....and that it applies to drinking, drugs, and sex.

I totally succumbed to peer pressure and went and seen the Grudge. I was 22 and freaked out and scared for 2 weeks straight. :snicker

No lie.

My sister is 36 and said it scared her straight for 2 weeks, too! :lmao I never saw it, but she said her own baby monitor freaked her out because it reminded her of the movie. The part my daughter saw was when some dead girl is in the ceiling and she drops her hair down and smoothers (sp?) a girl in the hallway with her hair and drags the girl up to the ceiling with her. :devil
