Oh gheeze! I didn't read the article but I don't think if your gay ya need a class on it do ya? Sheesh!

It's not like pregnancy would be an issue or anything. :roll

I mean...what's the point anyway? If you're gay, you're gay!

I could care less as long as it is not mandatory.

Doesn't seem very educational unless gay and lesbian civil rights issues and such are discussed.

I think it's really strange. :para

And I want to know why this class only focuses on men. Plenty of women need to know how to be gay, too. :rofl

Maybe they want to learn how to walk, talk, eat, and do all things gay?

Yeah, I read the class description and it's a bit odd but to each their own.

I don't need a class to teach me how to be hetero or how to be a woman. I would think that the class wouldn't be very popular. It strikes me as nearly insulting to gay men.

It's an English course. :think

It's an English course. :think

YES :rofl

I'm just baffled. I wonder if identifying as gay is a prerequisite?

I think from the course description it's more of an examination of social or human influences on gay-ness. I guess if your gay your gay, but that seems more to see how much of the lifestyle is learned vs. just automatic.

I think the name of the course should be changed. :para

I also think the whole description is hard to follow, and if that's how the class would be, I wouldn't waste my money on those credits.

I also found this last paragraph mildly comical ....and something that makes you go hmmmmm:think

This course is not a basic introduction to gay male culture, but an exploration of certain issues arising from it. It assumes some background knowledge. Students wishing to inform themselves about gay men and gay culture in a preliminary way should enroll in an introductory course in lesbian/gay studies.

Only if you already know all the basics, should you be in this advanced class. :para

Considering Colleges have offered courses like The Klingon Language, The Philosophy of Fight Club, The importance of Revelations in the Bible have been offered in the past, I don't find a problem with this one. I'm sure it's an elective, as those listed above were.

No harm, no foul.

They could watch "The Birdcage" and pick up that bit 'o' knowledge! :rofl

When will people learn to just be themselves? Men don't need training to be gay. They only need to be who they are. Isn't that the point of coming out of the closet?

It is truly easier said than done. :yep

Not that I think you need a class in how to be gay, but a gay awareness maybe nice.

U of M. :lmao

Anyway...I agree with Cookie. :theman

Caught the tail end of the Law and Order last night. It was about a family wanting to abort a child due to the gay gene. :sad

Awareness is good but a class on "how to be"?
Something not right there.
