Bill would ban military slot machines

I honestly didn't know slot machines existed on overseas posts/bases. I respectfully disagree with the Under Secretary and agree with the professor. "University of Illinois business professor John Kindt, who has studied gambling addictions and the military, agrees with Davis that the money raised is not worth the risk. He says the military should find other ways to entertain troops."

I am so tired of having to give up things that I need or enjoy because a few people have no self control. The word "addicted" is over used. It means that a person is physically addicted to a thing and suffers withdrawal symptoms when denied it.

No one is addicted to gambling. No one vomits, or shakes, or hallucinates when it isn't there. Tobacco is addictive. So is alcohol. And opium. But not gambling, video games, or chocolate.

The powers that be should not be punishing people for the problems of others. Leave the rest of us alone and help the ones who have no self control.
