WHy does everyone become so serious and intense about religion during the holidays? It seems the holidays brings out the worst in people. :sad

I seem to find the people who it just makes insane or those who actually tolerate religion during that time. No idea why that is the case but I agree it is out there.

I hadn't noticed any change in rhetoric about religions over the past few months. It seems the debate about Muslim has brought out the best/worst of humanity again.

I don't think people get intense with religion just at Christmas - I think people have gone apeshit off the deepend with religion since this neo-con quest for power and ridiculous proposals about 'defining marriage' because in the bible, homosexuality is a si-yen.
Yeah right - there's a lot of stuff in the bible that is a si-yen and people don't bat an eyelash about those.
Picking and choosing and people who are apeshit off the deep end like that just feed at this time. Christmas and Easter give them time to play martyr and cry persecution - and say stupid stuff like 'this is a Christian nation".
Civics 101, anyone?
don't mind me - I just had a weekend excursion with the side of the family that really is apeshit off the deep end. My uncle insisted Jesus didn't drink wine - that it was grape juice. Well shut my mouth and call me a theologian - who knew they had refrigeration and Welch's back then!
