I really like the way they presented the trial re-enactment.

And I loved the SCIENCE stuff. :D

What I loved was that they pointed out that kids are getting watered down science because of politics. The theory is so complete that to argue another explanation is ridiculous.

My faith in God does not rest on a literal understanding of the story of the seven days of Creation. God is, and I don't care HOW God brought humanity into existence, I just appreciate that God is the WHO.

I watched the show as much as I could with a positive attitude and was glad they addressed what a theory is in scientific terms however I did get twitchy over their exposure of The Wedge. It was at that time when MY BELIEF was re-affirmed that some folks in this country are TERRORISTS!

I was not able to watch the entire show. I thought it was pretty ridiculous that a one minute statement could not be read stating that Darwin's theory is a theory. I think that intelligent design pushes the envelope a bit too far for public school consumption but I certainly think that Science teachers have gone on long enough lecturing about Darwin's theory as a hard core fact.

Wedge certainly is not an organization I would be funding, however I surely don't think they are terrorists.

Gravity is just a theory too. How eager are you to test it?

I found it insane that the school board demanded that a statement be read that said that Evolution was "only" a theory. The program made it clear that a theory is not a guess, it's a coherent set of observations that have been tested over time. A theory as well tested as evolution is MORE than fact, not less, and the program made that clear.

The school board members were acting on their own religious and political beliefs, and not in the interest of kids' education.

Gravity is presented as a theory. So should Evolution. I am not understand the harm that would be caused by stating this fact.

The statement inaccurately portrayed the state of knowledge of the evolutionary process. Deceiving the kids isn't helpful to them.

I watched part of that... but I can't say I was impressed. It seemed to me like they tried awfully hard to portray the 'intelligent design' witnesses as basically losers. Yes, it's a given that 'intelligent design' is the same as 'creation'. But I don't see the problem in (a) presenting evolution as a theory - it's CALLED "The Theory of Evolution" anyway - or (b) presenting the theory that life was created. They're not saying WHO did the creating, just that someone did. Which is different from preaching salvation in the classroom.

The program also covered what a theory is-and it's not just a guess, it's a collection of observations that have been repeatedly tested and found to be valid. Therefore "just a theory" is a misrepresentation of the science involved.

The intelligent design folks were not honest in presenting their reasons, either, which is pretty interesting. Lying for God. :shrug

And intelligent design is a religious explanation, and that isn't part of the public school curriculum.

Ya know who sez 'it's only a theory' as an argument against scientific concepts?

Folks who don't understand science or scientific concepts. :lol

I just watched the program tonight. The acting for the reinactments was piss poor, but the show was VERY informative.

Did the show make the ID witnesses and experts look like losers? No. They made themselves look like losers.

It did point out, as has been noted here, that a "theory" in science is MUCH more than an educated guess. The Theory of Evolution is EXTREMELY solid, tested SCIENCE.

Intelligent design....creationism....same thing....and complete fiction.

I am glad to see that others noted that information.

I believe that God created us, and the method used doesn't worry me at all.
