Hey Cassandra isn't that near you? I'm 3 hours from Phoenix.

"Palo Verde, operated by Arizona Public Service Co., is the nation's largest nuclear power plant both in size and capacity. Located in Wintersburg about 50 miles west of downtown Phoenix, the plant supplies electricity to about 4 million customers in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California."

With all the nuclear power plants around the world at this point, how long until the Earth is just a nuclear waste dump?

One nuclear power plant can produce the same amount of engery as several dozen coal burners and it's much cleaner. There are safe ways to dispose of or reuse left-over material. The issue is keeping these facilities secure and sadly it appears we are not doing a good enough job of it.

Safe ways? Perhaps for a while...but what happens when we've got so much of this stuff that we've disposed of that it's all over the place?
Doesn't it take millions of years for this radioactive stuff to break down?
Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it seems like that's what I've read somewhere along the way.

There is no such thing as absolute safety. Every one has risks in there life. And life itself is a fatal condition. I'm more concerned with the food and the toys coming in from foreign countries. I can only handle so many fears at one time. I'm just plain feared out.:hide
