The bottom line is that any of the top three or four Democratic candidates will easily beat whoever or whatever is nominated by the GOP. Each of the top gop candidates are very flawed and will be fun to run against in the general. If rudy is the gop nominee, it would be fun to see the religious right stay home or support a third pary. The fact that rudy only got 2% of the vote at the strawpoll done by the religious right a couple of weekends ago shows the level of support that rudy will get from this key group.
