CONCORD, N.H. - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain plans to add another television ad to New Hampshire airwaves, again touting his record of curbing wasteful spending and criticizing lobbyists' influence.
The Arizona senator's new ad starts on Thursday. It flashes words such as "boondoggle" and "corporate welfare" as an announcer calls McCain the best candidate to fight out-of-control spending in Washington.
The ad talks about the canceled, $30 billion contracts with defense contractor Boeing. McCain led the congressional hearings into the scandal that showed gaps in how large contracts are governed. Eventually, two company officials were sent to prison for their role.
Fighting wasteful spending has become a cornerstone of McCain's campaign. During his remarks, he routinely touts his efforts to fight such legislative pet projects
The latest McCain ad follows a pair last week that criticized Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Democratic front-runner and New York senator, and her effort to insert a $1 million set-aside for a Woodstock museum.
