How about a thread to get in the Spirit? :devil

Post a trick or treat, a scary movie clip, a good song, or even a cartoon:
Each Halloween I used to gather up a few good movies for us to watch
the nights before Halloween so I could get my kid good 'n scared
for Trick or Treat night. :plot

This was my favorite:

Terror in the Aisles - Intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVPf30hzc9M)
Terror In the Aisles - Montage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6mraBC1aWg)

Even tho the kid has grown 'n moved on,
I still watch scary movies on Halloween. :scared

My faves now include the Scary Movie Series. :lmao

I'll tell you a story my Irish grandmother told me.

Shaheen, that's how she spelled it, was the day that the dead walked. Anyone who died throughout the year from last Shaheen, had to rise from their grave and walk to the veil on the day of Shaheen. They began their walk after the sun set and had to be past the veil by sun up. The Irish would lock themselves in their homes and keep all the lamps burning all night because they were afraid of the dead.

Someone started wondering if their homes might be attacked by the dead because they were hungry, so the Irish started putting bits of food outside and on the fence posts to keep the dead from coming to the house. Of course children, being children, started sneaking out of their homes and taking the food that was left out for the dead. Especially, the sweets. And that was how trick or treating started.

There was once an Irish king named Braun or Braud. He loved the people so much that each night he prayed to the goddess that he could do something to help them. One night in a dream, she told him to have himself beheaded and his head put on a pole on the coast, and she would see to it that no one would ever drive the Irish out of Ireland. He did as she asked. To this day, his head protects the Irish.

When Irish children take their huge turnips and hollow them out, the face they carve is supposed to be the ancient king's. And no one has been able to drive all the Irish out of Ireland.

How's this for scary: a few minutes ago I signed away my ownership in my house in PA, while last week I bought a new home, 700 miles away, on my own, leaving a good chunk of the only life I've known for 21 years to try and start again... I don't know, makes me shudder...

great, startin' over can be a wonderful thang, kwim?

Best of luck to you, Viki.

On Sep 3, 2001 I left Oklahoma with 500 hundred dollars in my pocket and my army duffel. I got on a train headed for San Francisco with no real plan. Two days later I met my wife on that train and we've been together ever since. Six years later I'm living a damn fine life with her over 7000 miles from where I started. Life is strange and good at the same time.

Cool videos. I don't know if you know this or not, but a tv guy showed how to cut the bottom off of the pumpkin instead of the top. Then the top stays perfect. Looks much better and you can carve a good place for the candle in the loose bottom piece. I heard this years ago, and I almost always forget to cut the bottom.
