A little bit of background on the buyer.

She's an environmentalist and a Democrat with a $4600 donation to Barack Obama. I've also found she's a collector and seller of antiques.
The money did go to a great cause, although not to 'the troops' as Wabby suggests. It goes to a scholarship fund (http://www.missionfish.org/NPMMF/nphomepage.jsp?NP_ID=196) associated with the Marine Corps.
This is so great, I hope Reid writes another letter. With Rush matching the funds we could bankrupt the idiot in no time.

Thank you for setting the boy straight. I can't believe he didn't know the final use of the money.

Or pay off the national debt...so, how much of his own money did Lush Rimbaugh donate?

I doubt it, unfortunately that sale price is only about 1% of his net worth.
Apparently being a drug-addled, rabid obnoxious pig, and right wing mouthpiece is pretty profitable.

Personally, I would wince if I had to give 1% of my net worth for gag that would probably be forgotten in a week. And I bet I'm not as stingy as Lush.
