I think this totally sums up why I could never. I would not endorse my husband doing it either. Guess I am just selfish but in this life our family and our relationship is the most important thing to me.

I remember some years ago when many were rakin' these women over the coals for bein' Congressional officers, said they should be ashamed for leavin' their kids to work in Congress.
I'm glad some of them stuck it out 'n bucked the status quo (that's fancy for system). :lmao

I ran for public office decades ago, they couldn't accuse me of bein' a bad mother, you know what they said about me. :wink

Great article. We are a military family, we move every 2 years. Since the kids were born, 1995/1998 he has been deployed anywhere from 3 months to 12 months. Technology is amazing now.

With that said, I think women should be in Congress. It's the families decision to stay behind or move to DC.

I absolutely think that women should be in congress. I certainly did not mean this about all women. I just meant it for me. :) I could never put it above my family, and then I would be doing a diservice.

I could not have done it either. But why not move the family. Because her husband has a job he doesn't want to leave? Women have been doing it for a long time. I think we need more men in the sacrificial mode. It is for the good of the country.
