Why is it when the TRUTH is right in someone's face and they and others still turn a blind eye? (not talking politics here)

It reminds me of the movie "A few good men". "YOU want the truth, YOU can't handle the truth". Why can't some people handle the truth and then get coddled or protected by those around them?:think I think it's really counter productive.

People's perceptions are their truths

Agreed because while the truth is the truth people different intrepretations (perceptions) of it vary.

Sag and Rev; I agree. But when the truth is obvious how can some be so blind? (not talking politics or religion)

I don't know. I'm dealing with this issue in my personal life right now & it is really incredibly frustrating. I feel like the conversations I have been having with this person over the last several years have gone totally unheard and this person has been spinning their version of the truth with all the people we know. I don't know how much more clear I could have been over the past several years. It's creating a really uncomfortable situation. Maybe he feels because he shouted me down when he disagreed with me, he took that as an aquiescence on my part. I don't know.

I think sometimes people just hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see. I think the person in my life's little pea brain didn't allow him to process my point of view - he thinks I agreed to something I didn't & is claiming we had a verbal agreement to certain terms that we didn't. I feel like banging my head against a wall.

Sometime it is just downright refusal to believe. Either out of fear or arrogance.
