As the mother of a middle schooler, I can attest to the fact that the biggest problems in middle school come from same sex peers, not opposite sex peers.

:drama

Maybe we could completely isolate them from everyone except their teacher. Now that may work! :roll

MANY of the problems in middle school, and high school for that matter, are not from the opposite sex, but from competition within the SAME sex.

I went to an all girl's high school and there I received a college level education. I definitely think single gender classes are the best.

I think that there is not one single fix-all that can be applied to education.

Cassandra, I think you are right. And maybe the schools are starting to do the right thing, experimenting with different kinds of schools. We have had a one size fits all school system for far too long. And how I wish there was some way to isolate the schools from the politicians.
