I was talking to DH about the Korean and German prisoners taken by the Taliban, and my reaction to that... I think they're making a new kind of move by taking prisoners from these countries, and it's got me feeling a little unsettled.

So he mentioned something he was listening to on talk radio. I don't know who the show host was, but they were kind of speculating on what the future might hold. He wasn't thinking in terms of nuclear attack, dirty bombs, or any of the things we normally hear discussed. Instead, he had the notion that the next attack will be like what took place in Russia a few years back. That they'll infiltrate a school or something like that, something that will evoke a massive emotional reaction, driving the citizens of the US (and probably Canada as well) to run on emotion instead of logic and to turn against Muslims in general instead of just the extremists who are the real threat. And the natural consequence of that would be that the Muslim moderates would turn in defense of their brothers and suddenly there would be a catastrophe within our own borders.

I'm not sure if he's on target or not, but part of me thinks it sounds possible at least.

What do you think?

I have been concerned for a long time that we might see a series of lesser terror attacks. However, al Qaeda seems to prefer the spectacular.

It was a thrill to me to see the recent attacks in the UK thwarted so completely.

Yep. That was a really good show of what can happen when intelligence works, eh? :D :clap to them.
