Okay, I took the test twice, and had different results. This really isn’t surprising to me as people around the country often mis-guess my accent.
The first time it said I had a Southern accent, which is true because I was born in Tennessee.

The second time I took the same test it said I had a Midwestern accent, which is also accurate because while I was born in Tennessee, I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I guess maybe I have a “dual” personality.

I got western. Or no accent. I think most people today talk like the people on tv. We are losing our regional accents. For good or bad.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
Philadelphia
The Inland North
The South
The Northeast
The West
Boston
North Central
Well...it pegged me as I was born and raised in Southern Ohio! :lol

The Midland with North Central a close 2nd. Which makes sense as I'm from Chicago but spent my summers 2 hours from the Canadian border!

Inland North. I've lived in 8 different states and people can still tell I was raised in MI. :Q

Inland North. I've lived in 8 different states and people can still tell I was raised in MI, although I haven't lived there since 1990..also talk too fast. :Q
I took it twice also, mainly because the test was so certain that I was from the Philadelphia area.
Not sure where that comes from.
I went back and changed one response, "horrible" to have the same ho sound as 'whore" and it turned me into a Southerner with Midland being almost as strong.
I lived in extreme NE Texas for my first 25 years and have had constant and strong ties to Texas ever since.
Some tell me that I don't sound like a Texan but they should hear me when I talk to my family on the phone.
The only other place I have lived is TN.
Certain parts of TN have their own unique accent.
I absorb accents to the point of embarrassing myself because I fear they will think I am making fun of them.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing. :)
