Oregonions called Peter DeFazio's office, worried there was a conspiracy buried in the classified portion of a White House plan for operating the government after a terrorist attack.

As a member of the US House on the Homeland Security Commmittee, DeFazio, D. Or., is permitted to enter a secure "bubble room" in the Capitol and examine classified material. So he asked the WH to see the secret documents. On Wed. he got his answer: DENIED.

We're talking about the government of the US DeFazio says. "I would think that would be relevant to any member of Congress, let alone a member of the Homeland Security Committee."

Norm Ormstein, a legal scholar who studies government continuity at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, said he "cannot think of one good reason" to deny access to a member of Congress who serves on the HSC.

"Maybe the people who think there's a conspiracy out there are right." DeFazio said.

Every time I think it has gotten as scarey out there as it can, it gets scarier.

I've talked with Congressman DeFazio on many occassions and we are politically oppossite on most things, but I do agree with him on this item.
Scary...no, but of concern...

Toss it on top of the pile of secrets. I doubt we'll ever know the whole story. :sad

What is scaring people is that it is the 'decider' who gets to decide when there is a national emergency. And most of us are scared to death of him. So, we may very well find out whats in the plan. When Bush abolishes the government.

Probably not...there are secrets that go back to the founding of this country, from Every Administration..this is NOT new!

Liberals are scared of their shadows for christssake! One does not need to be scared of George Bush...or much of anything for that matter, except criminals, terrorists and Mad scientists....the criminals in your hood, should be your number one fear.

Personally, I'm not afraid of anything that isn't immediately relative...especially where I live. Today for example, I'm totally at peace....no fears, no perceived fears of Bush, that's for damn sure...it's all liberal poppycock!:boyhowdy

Example: My firearms safety and self defense classes have been booming since the first of the year, especially after VA Tech.. Why, I really don't know. It's just as dangerous or not as it was last year or last decade.

Which Liberals are those? I think you have a stereotype problem.

I support 2nd ammendment, but not Bush stupidity. When America goes to war, we need to know the facts and have a plan. Bush had NOTHING.

Why are you afraid of terrorists? They only seem to attack jewish population centers. I think you are pretty safe in the Northwest.

I do stereotype liberals, but I don't consider it a problem..:rofl
You may be an exception...but talk about peas in a pod and you are talking about most liberals..
Bush did have something, he got rid of Soddam PDQ! Just not a good follow up...and a leader is only as good as his advisors and I think Rumsfeld was a total fuckup!
Now, if you go back and read my post, very carefully, you will see where I said that I'm not afraid of anything that isn't immediately relative. That would include terrorists. There are plenty of Jews up here in Portland, and Seattle.
I am fairly safe up here...but remember, NO place is totally safe...no place!

Hell, I said it first last Fall...she's a copy cat...:rofl:rofl

Now she's paranoid!

I think it's the far right conservatives who are scared of their own shadows. Listen to their reasons for owning a bunch of guns.

Go up around Hells Canyon or the more milder Summer Lake area and you will see a different Oregon! Cityies suck no matter where they are at!

Ever face danger TB? Ever been threatned or your home broken into? Ever been to or have any relative gone to War?

I can't speak for Wabash, but I expect he is like me, studious of our surroundings, not afraid to group or profile potential threats, no matter their Color, Race or Creed! Its called street smarts, Deadshot should be aware of what I am saying, and Wabash is a former Peace Officer, so reality trumps Politics!

The influx of Illegals, the increase in violent crime, the problem with Mideast Radicals that wish us dead, is good reason to at least be able to somewhat protect yourself!

Now if this is being afraid, then I am one of the more scared individuals around, as I will stay armed, I am allowed to conceal & carry, and I use that right a lot in my line of work!

Here is kind of where we are heading and this should bother Doggie also, but will it as his responce might be unpopular among Liberals!

Yes, I've faced some danger. Nothing extreme.

Based on your post, I see that you take my point.

To say that "liberals" are afraid of their own shadows, when all we are doing is pointing out real threats, is silly.

I have a problem with the attitude that we are all going to live in a violent, dangerous, hateful world, and there is nothing we can do about it. And I'm a liberal because I don't want that.
