Pretty sure yeah,

The job is great although doesn't give me the same free time on the computer as my last job did hence the less postings.

Other than that nothing is new.

Only Kurtz knows for sure :D

That's very true! In all the months posting with Kurtz, the one thing I realized was that I could never figure him / her out. :rofl

Honestly, I'm not sure whether Kurtz was a guy or a gal. Whether he / she was black / white or "other. Or whether he / she was gay or straight. :shrug

But Kurtz was always nice to me regardless of his / her gender...and seemed truly compassionate for people's plights. :)

Which brings me to the question..."Can people ever really get to know each other on the net?" Is that even possible?

Sweet Tart

I think that depends on how "real" the people are with each other :shrug

Even if people are being real, the other person may not know they're being real, so there's always that question. Ya know?

Sweet Tart
07-15-2007, 09:51 PM
Well, that's just it. If both people are truly being real, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Trust is another topic entirely :lol

Since we're playing 'what if'...what if the other person only pretends to be real, pretends to have your best interests at heart, tells you untruths and hateful things about others to make you cautious and paranoid.

Whoops there it is.

Then the day comes, when suddenly, the truth is revealed. (insert angelic music here) :angel

Truth can be very freeing. Maybe Kurtz is free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, free at last. Hallelujah!!

I think that you can only know what they allow you to know. OF course that is true of people you meet face to face. The net certainly brings another wrench into the equation.

That would a form of manipulation for whatever purpose...unknown...but probably self-serving.

Wherever Kurtz is I hope he's / she's doing well. :heart

Which brings me to the question..."Can people ever really get to know each other on the net?" Is that even possible?

I would respond with a resounding "Maybe". :lol I know people online who I think I know pretty well or at least know a lot about that I don't believe is made up - FunDee is one, Love is another... I have some really good friends in an email group I'm part of, and I have had some good friends online who I ended up developing an offline connection with as well and had no surprises.

But the majority of the time I think you need to remember that people can be whoever they want to be online and that you can only really develop a superficial type of relationship.

(Which is why I rarely take anything personally online. :yep)

Wouldn't it be though????? Hell, I wouldn't be able to keep up with it all! :rofl

I'm just not smart enough to remember multiple persona's! :rofl

And what would the purpose of that really be, other than to just mess with people? :confused

Yet, I think this goes on at websites all the time...I think it happens at AWE quite a bit.

And on parenting forums. :yep People steal other people's baby pictures and pretend to be a mommy... it's ludicrous.

Ditto - it's sort of twisted to pretend you are somebody you're not - and keeping up the facade would make my head hurt!

I prefer life to be as simple as possible and to seek the joy. :frolic

Well, everyone's experiences will differ. I don't think just because he/she/whatever was nice to some makes it any less real that he/she/whatever was not nice to others. That is what happens when someone is manipulating people. I always found him/her/whatever very nice and charming, until he/she/whatever decided to stop being nice.
